STURBRIDGE — Following an eventful St. Patrick's Day craft fair Thursday afternoon, March 17, Joshua Hyde Public Library officials announced a busy schedule of events for the end of March and April.

Kids are in for a special treat this spring vacation, as "Maggie the Clown" will visit the library on Tuesday, April 19 at 11 a.m.

Portrayed by Nicole Portwood, of Brimfield, Maggie the Clown will present to children ages 3 and up a magic and comedy variety show called Mother Goofe. Portwood, who has spent the last 25 years working both nationally and internationally as a performer, was once a member of the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus. She has entertained guests at Disneyland and Disney World, and performed for thousands of children at birthday parties, company picnics, schools, and libraries throughout the country since starting her own company in 1992. For more information about Portwood and her services, visit www.maggietheclown.com.

"We are very excited to see the magic and comedy show she will put on for the children," said Patricia Lalli, the library's director of Children's Services.
