SOUTHBRIDGE — The Alesci family is housing some rather unexpected guests.

The Long Island band "Hotel of the Laughing Tree" is staying at their Southbridge home while on tour. The band is a recipient of the 2009 MTV Woodie award, a music ceremony voted by college students.

"We booked a small tour and we had two days off, so Beppe offered to let us stay here," said drummer Brandon Peterson. "We got here and it was snowing, so this place really looked beautiful."

No one in the band can accurately pinpoint or describe what the band sounds like or what genre they fall into. Lead singer and rhythm guitarist A.J. Estrada's best estimation is "folkish indie rock" mixed with alternative, with a progressive rock mixture.

The band is filming scenes for their upcoming DVD in the Alesci home, which has a plaque noting its historical relevance and age, dating back to the mid-18th century.
