SOUTHBRIDGE — Lucille Ravenelle is quickly underway gearing up for another season of fundraising for the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life.

The Relay For Life of Southbridge will be held at McMahon Field at Southbridge High School June 17-18. Teams walk around the track into the night with their pledge to beat the disease.

"I will again be captain of the Pawfect Pals Relay team for the seventh year," said Ravenelle Wednesday, Feb. 23. "I chose that name because a very dear friend of mine, Dr. Mak [Maketansky, veterinarian at Sturbridge Veterinary Hospital] was diagnosed with colon cancer seven years ago. I wanted to do something for him and for the community to make me feel like I was making a difference."

Maketansky said he was delighted when he found out about the team. The name was picked because of Maketansky being a vet and Ravenelle being a professional pet sitter.
