STURBRIDGE — Get ready to chow down at the Publick House, as the Tri-Community Exchange Club will present its second annual Chowder Fest on Sunday, Feb. 27, from 1 to 5 p.m.

The fundraising event will feature chefs from 19 local establishments, all of whom will attempt to prepare their best chowders. Guests will have an opportunity to sample each soup and then vote on which one they enjoyed most. Last year, a chef from Charlton's Overlook Catering won the most votes with delicious lobster chowder

"Our first Chowder Fest went really well — it exceeded all of our expectations," said Lee Standrowicz, the treasurer of the Tri-Community Exchange Club. "We are contemplating having two separate competitions this year — one for the best clam chowder and the other for the best specialty chowder."

The club currently has 15 members, and its leaders are hoping events like this one will encourage more residents to sign up.

"The Tri-Community Exchange Club hosts many programs and events that raise money to assist less fortunate individuals, whether it be children, the homeless, or others who need a hand," said Club Secretary Sheri Bibinski.
