STURBRIDGE — After five years of service to the town as a member of the Board of Selectmen, Edward "Ted" Goodwin announced his resignation Thursday, Feb. 10.

The vacancy adds a third open seat on the board just two months away from the Annual Election.

"My work and family commitments were becoming too difficult to balance, and I found that I didn't have enough time to dedicate to the board," Goodwin said. "Remaining on the board wouldn't have been fair to myself or to the other members."

Goodwin, who had one year remaining in his term, said he leaves the position with fond memories.

"I am very proud of what I accomplished during my five years on the board, and I am thankful for having had the opportunity to serve the town of Sturbridge," he added.
