SOUTHBRIDGE — The taste of the town was the toast of the town Friday, as folks gathered to enjoy good food for a good cause.

The seventh annual Taste of Southbridge was held at the Everett Street VFW last week. The event, which has grown into a local favorite of many, is a fundraiser for the Southbridge Relay For Life — the local chapter of the world's largest effort to support the American Cancer Society.

"It's a good fundraiser. Everyone loves it," said Relay volunteer Faye Sweeney.

Sweeney is a member of the Big Dog Bandits, one of three Relay teams hosting the event. The other teams were the Pawfect Pals and the Jolly Jesters.

Pawfect Pals Captain Lucille Ravenelle said, "I think it's great. It's another way to raise funds, and we're always looking for new ways to get the community to come together."
