SOUTHBRIDGE — A 29-year-old female was taken by helicopter to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester after what appeared to be an intentional fall from a third-story window near Main Street this afternoon.

The injured woman was removed from the scene behind the Edwards Block Apartments at 310 Main Street at approximately 1:30 p.m.

Emergency medical technicians, firefighters and police officers were on scene immediately, as the incident occurred adjacent to the Fire Department headquarters on Elm Street. The Elm and Chapin street entrances to the parking lot behind the Edwards Block were closed while officials cleared the scene.

Police Chief Daniel Charette said the woman sustained three broken limbs and severe head trauma in the fall, and was still receiving treatment as of 5 p.m.
