Manna enters Council race
Stresses need for more
April 26, 2010
SOUTHBRIDGE — Add another candidate to the list of those vying for a seat on the Town Council.
David Manna, 48, said Sunday he plans to run for one of the three-year council seats, and has to gather only a few more signatures before submitting his nomination papers to Town Clerk Madaline Daoust next week. The election is scheduled for Tuesday, June 29.
The seats of Vice Chairman Albert Vecchia Jr., Pamela Regis and Conrad Vandal all are up this year. Regis and Vecchia have taken out papers, while Vandal has said he is running again.
"I see a lot of good, positive potential in this town. I want to be a part of it," Manna said.
Manna, who is a member of the Education and Human Services subcommittee, said he is running for three reasons — education, public safety and community involvement.
Manna, a Customer Service Engineer for EMC Corporation, said one of his top three priorities would be keeping the police and fire departments adequately staffed, and providing the Department of Public Works with enough money to properly repair the roads.
