HOLLAND — If there is anything Joel Crouse has learned during his short musical career, it is to be prepared for the unexpected.

Crouse, 17, of Holland, was sitting in a Starbucks Coffee shop in Nashville, Tennessee with his father, Tom, when the phone rang. The person on the other end made him an offer he couldn't refuse: Record background vocal tracks for a duet sung by pop artists Sheryl Crow and Miley Cyrus.

Crouse, a 2009 Tantasqua Regional High School graduate, recorded the tracks a month ago for the single due to be released sometime this summer.

The experience marks the first time the aspiring singer/songwriter has worked on a major recording, and the latest achievement in his short career in the music industry.

"I just love the creativity of it," he said.
