STURBRIDGE — Change is in the air at the Joshua Hyde Library in Sturbridge.

As former Library Director Ellie Chesebrough finished up the final days of her more than 17 years in charge of the Joshua Hyde, newly appointed Library Director Becky Plimpton used the time to get acquainted with the building, people, and operations at the library.

Plimpton was selected from a pool of 25 applicants for the position, and was officially appointed on Thursday, Jan. 7 by a four-member subcommittee of the library's Board of Trustees.

On Monday, Jan. 25, Plimpton began learning the day-to-day processes of the library under Chesebrough's tutelage.

"I have to learn everything she knows in the next five days," Plimpton joked.

Chesebrough's last day at the library will be Friday, Jan. 29.

Although she is new to Sturbridge, Plimpton is very familiar with libraries and what is required to continue running smoothly.
