SOUTHBRIDGE — Gertrude Meredith of Southbridge, at right, works on her wreath as the Southbridge Garden Club gets ready for their annual greens sale being held this weekend at the Arts Center. The sale takes place from noon-5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday.

The Southbridge Garden Club has been hosting this annual event for more than 10 years. All items are hand crafted by club members using fresh greens, purchased locally, or harvested from their personal gardens and woods. This year's theme will be "A New England Tradition." members will create and decorate holiday items, including wreaths, center pieces, roping/swags, and assorted arrangements and bundles of greens.

Since 1953 the Southbridge Garden Club has served the community evolving into a non-profit organization that is a member of The Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts. The mission of the club today, is to share an interest in horticulture and to expand our knowledge of gardening for our mutual benefit and that of our local communities. We are an active and busy club; Members' gardens have been on local and state garden tours. We continue to visit many gardens and parks of interest in our area. We participate in, and host numerous floral and horticultural lectures and demonstrations at the Arts Center. Proceeds from the annual greens sale provide us with funds to support horticultural beautification efforts on The Arts Center grounds, for the town of Southbridge and our surrounding communities. We have an open membership and invite you to join us.

The Greens Sale will be at The Arts Center, 111 Main St. / Rt. 131 Southbridge. The Southbridge Garden Club also meets monthly, at The Arts Center. For additional membership information please inquire at the Greens Sale.
