November 30, 2009 STURBRIDGE — Ask most people what stood out about William Lawrence "Bill" Muir, and the one word that comes up unbidden is "dedicated."
Muir, a development advocate and businessman who served many years on the Planning Board, advocated for veterans issues and was a member of the Public Lands Advisory Committee, died Sunday at age 80.
"He was a terrific guy and had a very generous heart, to a fault almost," said Veterans Agent Tom Chamberland. "…He truly had the community at heart."
Those were words heard from people across the political spectrum in town. Whether someone agreed with Muir or not, they praised him for his effort on behalf of Sturbridge, his knowledge and his civility.
