CHARLTON — A Charlton man faces charges of attempted murder and assault and battery after allegedly attacking his girlfriend.
Michael R. Oliver, 26, of 22 Harrington Road, Apt. 26, also faces a charge of witness intimidation, according to Dudley District Court records in connection with allegedly beating his girlfriend, Tuesday, Oct. 27. Oliver has pleaded not guilty, according to Worcester County District Attorney Spokesman Tim Connolly.
Oliver is scheduled to appear in court Friday, Nov. 20 for a pre-trial hearing. A judge set bail at $1,000 cash or surety as long as Oliver complies with a restraining order. Oliver had not made bail, according to Connolly.
The charges stems from a violent incident that occurred Tuesday, Oct. 27, according to Officer William Bedard's report. Police responded to a report of an assault and battery to find the woman, who lives in the complex as well, crying and holding her neck, Bedard wrote. The woman told police that Oliver had chocked her and that she believed she was going to die, according to the report. The attack occurred in front of the woman's children.
