Halloween night will be a little bit spookier this year as it also marks the final day for daylight saving time — which now starts on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November — Sunday, Nov. 1 this year. Set clocks back one hour at 2 a.m. local daylight time, which becomes 1 a.m. local standard time.

It's also a good time to change the batteries in smoke/carbon monoxide detectors for a safer winter season.
