A family that preys
Relatives charged in assault, robbery

SOUTHBRIDGE — Dudley District Court records allege an early Monday robbery was a family enterprise.
Just after 2 a.m., police received a 911 call in which a witness claimed Wanda and Javier Maldonaldo, 40 and 24, respectively, were beating up "an unknown Asian man" in front of the Pump House on Main Street. When cruisers arrived, they had fled down the nearby alley, but the victim, Reachin Liu, was still on the scene, Officer Michael Corriveau's report states.
Because of a language barrier with Liu, Corriveau wrote he initially interviewed two witnesses who identified the Maldonados by name. One of them said he'd seen Javier throw Liu to the ground and try to go through his pockets while Wanda "kicked [him] in the stomach several times."
