STURBRIDGE — More than 12 hours after the initial call, firefighters were still on scene at 171 Charlton Road investigating a blaze that devastated the commercial facility.

The Sturbridge Fire Department received a call between 11 and 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, reporting a fire at Penney's Appliance and Lawn Equipment.

Shortly before noon on Wednesday, Sturbridge Fire Chief Leonard Senecal said, from the scene at Penney's, that the State Fire Marshal's Office was still investigating the fire.

Investigators from the Marshal's office led an accelerant-sniffing dog though the damaged building, looking for any signs of arson and trying, or at least trying to locate the source of ignition.
