6-year-old Pike crash victim dies

BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts State Police say a 6-year-old Rhode Island boy has died from injuries he suffered from a car crash on Route 90 in Charlton last week.
Police announced Tuesday that the boy from Cumberland, R.I., died Monday night at the UMass Medical Center in Worcester.
The boy's name was not disclosed.
According to police, the fatal crash occurred Thursday on the Mass Turnpike, west of the Charlton Service Plaza, after the car in which the boy was riding had a tire blow out. The driver of the car, 30-year-old Joseph Tellier from Cumberland, R.I., also was seriously injured.
The driver of a Ford Escape that struck Tellier's car when it went out of control after the blow-out was not injured.
