Legislator weigh in on Union 61/Tantasqua study

As with everything else in a weak economy, the debate over elementary school regionalization may come down to dollars and cents.
In a Wednesday, Aug. 5 letter issued to the members of the Tantasqua Regional School Committee, Superintendent Daniel G. Durgin alerted committee members to a financial analysis concerning consolidating Union 61 and Tantasqua school districts conducted by David J. Tobin.
The mixed emotions with which School Committee members met Durgin's notice mirrored the stances of state officials in recent years regarding school district regionalization and consolidation.
