Council okays contracts for union, VHB
June 24, 2009
SOUTHBRIDGE — After about 15 minutes in executive session, the Town Council unanimously approved a new, retroactive contract with the Town Hall union. It gives members the same pay raise deal already approved by the firefighters' union.
Specifically, that means no raise in January 2010, Town Manager Chris Clark said. They will receive 2 percent for July 2008 and July 2009, 1 percent for January 2009 and January 2011, and 1.5 percent for July 2010.
Also unanimous was approval of a $49,700 contract with engineering firm Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc. (VHB) to get the downtown redevelopment project moving.
Clark said that money came from $60,000 in funds the council "froze" last year for this effort.
