SOUTHBRIDGE — As a Town Council candidate, Dennis Martinek said he's been trying to put some distance between himself and what happens on the local Web blog he started last year, "Speak Out Southbridge," noting he's not sure what will happen to it after the election.

He said he become concerned that some of those on it have complained that he "won't attack people I'm running against."

"I want people to vote for me, not against others," he said. "I don't mind being known as a person with manners."

In his first run for any kind of office, Martinek faces incumbents David Livengood and Laurent McDonald, previous candidates George Chenier, Rinaldo Bernardone and Ronald Proulx, and fellow newcomers Stephanie DeMartino, Hector Delgado and Denise Clemence for three seats June 30. The third incumbent, Robert King, bowed out of the race May 29.
