Charity ride aids Haitian orphans

Christian bikers help cause

June 23, 2009
STURBRIDGE – For a motorcycle enthusiast, nothing beats riding along on a summer day with the wind in your face — except when it's for a good cause.

The Sturbridge Worship Center, working with Bikers for Christ motorcycle ministries, will host a ride on Saturday, Aug. 22 to do just that.

All of the proceeds generated by the ride and the festival following it will be used on a project on which the Sturbridge Worship Center has been working closely with the Mission of Hope in Haiti — to improve the living conditions of orphans on the country's half of the Caribbean island of Hispaniola.

The Rev. Dan Lee, pastor of the Sturbridge Worship Center explained that the need for assistance with so many facets of life in Haiti, that members of the congregation have been going on relief trips for the better part of a decade.

See Tuesday's Southbridge Evening News for complete coverage.
