SOUTHBRIDGE — For Town Councilor David Livengood, getting involved simply meant being asked.

"I saw an ad looking for people to join town committees and thought it was a worthwhile cause," he said.

At that point, he joined the Conservation Commission, and spent about five years there before running for the Council three years ago. Now he's seeking re-election June 30 and faces fellow incumbent Laurent McDonald, previous candidates George Chenier, Rinaldo Bernardone and Ronald Proulx, and newcomers Stephanie DeMartino, Hector Delgado, Dennis Martinek and Denise Clemence. The third incumbent whose seat is up this year, Robert King, bowed out of the race May 29.

To Livengood, the biggest issue of this year's election is the need to bring business to town.
