Foundation awards 61 faculty grants

STURBRIDGE — Carol Willard is planning a $1,800 spending spree.
But not for herself — for her art students at Tantasqua Junior High School.
Willard, along with several other Union 61 teachers, was awarded $11,612.91 in grant money last week from the Tantasqua Education Foundation (Ted.) to create extra curricular programs for their students. In total, six grants were given away, to programs ranging from Shakespeare lessons to video podcasting, writing skills and forensic science.
"They are really very exciting [and] interesting," Ted. spokesman James Glickman told the group of teachers last week as he presented the money at Tantasqua Regional High School.
