STURBRIDGE — In response to difficult economic conditions, the Central Mass South Chamber of Commerce and Old Sturbridge Village (OSV) are teaming up to bring some changes to the tourist information center on Route 20.

Beginning in July, travelers along Route 20 will have a new reason to stop at the information center across Main Street from the entrance to OSV — coffee and cookies.

At a meeting of the Sturbridge Planning Board on Tuesday, a plan was approved that will allow OSV to open a bakeshop inside the information center, which also serves as the office for the Chamber of Commerce.

The plan was drafted as a means of keeping the information center operational.
