Last-minute change for graduation plans

Grads, parents had decried indoor move

SOUTHBRIDGE — A last-minute switch will see Southbridge High School hold its graduation outdoors Sunday.

After being held outside last year, the ceremony was being planned for inside the school gymnasium, where students were setting up yesterday morning.

"I am going to reverse my decision," said Principal William Bishop in an interview Wednesday morning. "I talked with several people, I have been here so long that I really do appreciate the tradition of the school."

Bishop changed his mind yesterday morning (during his commute to the school) after parents complained, but not directly to him, about plans to hold the ceremony indoors.
