SOUTHBRIDGE — The pitching was fierce but friendly.

When all the dirt and dust had settled, the competition couldn't have been better, as the fourth annual Paul Proulx Sr. Horseshoe Tournament took place at the VFW club last Saturday in sunny weather, raising a total of $1,412 for area high school scholarships.

Ultimately, the players posted a repeat of last year, as Dave Lavallee Sr. and Bob Gregory defeated first-year tournament champions Kevin Lavalee and Mitch Smith. Dave Lavallee, in fact, postponed his pending permanent move to San Diego in order to defend last year's title.
