SOUTHBRIDGE — There's a party going on, one that doesn't happen every day – only once a century, in fact.

One person at a time.

This time that person is Fred Veber, a resident of Southbridge for the last three decades. Born on Sept. 11, 1912, Veber turned 100 on Tuesday. Because of his busy schedule, and his family's desire to invite everyone that the birthday boy wanted at his party, the actual celebration was to be held this weekend, when neighbors, family, friends, health-care aides, and other associates could more easily gather for the occasion.
