Labor Day weekend arrests keep police busy

September 09, 2012
STURBRIDGE — It was a busy Labor Day weekend for police, beginning on Friday, Aug. 31, with reports that a trailer truck had caused damage within the parking area of Comfort Inn.

At about 12:30 a.m., Officer Michael Vitols met with the reporting party, who provided a written statement describing the damage the trucker's careless operation had caused to the landscaped area of the parking lot. Vitols later observed the truck in question traveling on Hall Road and made a vehicle stop. After questioning the 41-year-old driver from Mooresville, N.C., Vitols cited him with leaving the scene of an accident that caused property damage and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

A complete assessment of the parking area revealed damage to the grass, a sprinkler head, a decorative tree on the median barrier, and various landscaping. In addition, a large rock had been moved approximately 6 feet by the truck.
