Call-in transit service starts in five towns

SOUTHBRIDGE — It's been at least a decade since real bus service traversed the streets of Southbridge.

Last weekend, the town began seeing what might be a first step toward its return.

Called the ReadyBus, it's an outgrowth of the long-established WRTA ElderBus service, but is now open to anyone living in Southbridge, Sturbridge, Spencer and Webster. Dudley is in the works.
