CHARLTON — While there are still a couple weeks to go until the Common gets transformed into a festive gathering spot for the annual Old Home Day celebration, time is ticking to get signed up and prepared for several of the Labor Day event's happenings.

The 115th Old Home day, which this year will take place Monday, Sept. 3, marks the 46th annual running of the 5 mile road race, an event that has become and fundamental part of the annual end-of-summer celebration. Each year the race attracts more than 300 participants from Charlton and neighboring towns.

The race will begin at 9 a.m. and loop around the common and is open to all ages. Medals and merchandise prizes will be awarded to the overall first place Charlton male and female finishers, and in each age category. Merchandise prizes and gift certificates from local businesses will also be awarded by random draw.
