HOLLAND — Jonathan Hall paid a visit to the Holland Senior Center last week along with his four-legged friend — and the region's favorite children's book character — Toto the Tornado Kitten.

What makes Hall's book so popular is the true story behind it, the story of how Toto was cared for by Hall and other EMS personnel at the Brimfield Fire Station after the baby kitten survived the June 1, 2011 tornado. Toto weighed only six ounces at the time, but after being nursed back to health by members of the Animal Rescue League of Boston, Hall was able to adopt him.

Holland seniors and their grandchildren got to hear the full story on Thursday, Aug. 2, as Hall read the book before signing and selling copies to those in attendance.
