August 02, 2012 SOUTHBRIDGE — Travelers along Route 169 – headed north toward Charlton or south from Charlton – may have noticed something slightly different of late.
The big brick building at the corner of Worcester and Vinton Streets no longer has the name "Dani & Soldani" emblazoned on it – as it has for about a hundred years.
Though the local cabinetmakers haven't occupied the building for some time, the D & S signage has identified the structure for generations, up until about five weeks ago, in fact. That's when Fastenal moved in with a wholesale operation that hopes to provide area manufacturers and maintenance departments with the tools, equipment, and supplies needed to keep them well stocked in nuts, bolts, tie-downs, and other "fasteners" of all kinds.
