July 17, 2012
STURBRIDGE — A local Little League baseball team and their community-minded coach recently took a swing at cancer by participating in the Oxford Jimmy Fund Tournament.

Because the tournament is part of the 2012 Jimmy Fund Little League Program presented by Extra Innings, all funds raised will support adult and pediatric cancer care and research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The tournament took place over a two-week period, culminating with games played on the weekend of July 14-15.

"Our team played in seven games in the tournament, and it was a great experience for the kids," said head coach Brian Galonek, who made sure all 15 kids on the team got a chance to play.
