'Accelerated improvement plan' up for discussion at forum

July 15, 2012
SOUTHBRIDGE — Parents and community members as a whole will get a chance to let the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education know what they think of the school district's turnaround process on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

"The oversight folks and DESE wanted to come out and see how people feel about where we are," said Superintendent Eric Ely.

He's referring to the women coordinating Southbridge's "accelerated improvement plan," Eva Mitchell and Nadine Bonda. They were here a couple weeks ago for a smaller, similar session to which about 20 parents were specifically invited; but even Ely and incoming PTA President Jill Congdon didn't attend.
