SOUTHBRIDGE — Town Council's selection of a new chair and vice-chair was surprisingly uneventful Monday, July 9, unlike the same process at the School Committee last week.

By a 6-0 vote, with three members either abstaining or simply voting "present," the panel gave Cathy Nikolla another year as chairman. It unanimously approved newly reelected Denise Clemence as vice chairman. Nobody was proposed as an alternative in either case.

Much of the meeting was equally copasetic, although there was some dispute over the first of the evening's seven appointments to various town posts. That involved putting Dale Ferron on the Liquor Licensing Board; it passed 7-2.
