Historical society to host appraisal day

CHARLTON — Would you believe the most-watched show on public television is an hour-long program dedicated to junk?

Each week, some 10 million people tune in to the "Antiques Roadshow," a traveling appraisal show featuring everyday people wanting to know if they're sitting on a secret goldmine.

Most of the time the heirlooms and antiques they bring in are trash, but occasionally there's a treasure, and that's the draw.
