SOUTHBRIDGE — A local man is being held on $100,000 bail after he allegedly attempted to kidnap and rob a woman he'd hired as a private dancer.

Last week, Jason Watson, 27, of 380 Hamilton St., pled not guilty to armed robbery, kidnapping for extortion while armed, three counts of assault with a weapon, threatening to murder, assault and battery, and impersonating an officer. Although the court rejected the prosecution's effort to have him held until trial for dangerousness, he is in custody anyway for allegedly violating federal probation and the terms of his bail in a case in Suffolk Superior Court, his Dudley District Court file states.

According to the police report by Officer Brian Haggerty, the incident came in as a 911 call about 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 24.
