Town Council, School Committee debates this weekend

June 04, 2012
SOUTHBRIDGE — Town voters should be prepared to take some notes Saturday, June 9, as town campaign season hits its stride with the annual Town Council and School Committee debates.

They'll take over Town Hall from 12 to 6 p.m., with live cable channel 12 broadcasts starting at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively, and periodic rebroadcasts until Election Day on June 26.

"It's an opportunity for townspeople to come together and learn about their [potential] leaders, get their questions out there, and see what's going on," said debate moderator Peter Cooper Jr. "Local politics is important. The local offices are often the ones that have much more impact on people's lives [than state or federal ones]."
